Indigenous Medicine Walk
with Elder Jane Chartrand, Algonquins of Ontario
July 18, 2026 at 4:00pm

Join Elder Jane Chartrand for a guided walk through the 100 acre Wild Company forest that offers an introduction to traditional plant knowledge and the respectful relationship between people and the land. It is an invitation to slow down, notice things, listen, and learn from the land.
During this two-hour mindful experience, participants will learn about the medicines in the forest, including wintergreen, how it has been traditionally used by Algonquin people and why it is considered a gift from Mother Earth. The walk includes guidance on how to harvest plants in a careful and respectful way, rooted in principles of reciprocity and gratitude.
Participants will gather wintergreen leaves together and prepare a simple tea using water from our site. Before sharing the drink, Elder Jane will offer a blessing, creating space to reflect on the knowledge shared and the connection between land, plant, and person.
This is a small-group experience, limited to 12 participants, allowing for a more personal and respectful exchange.
This experience aligns with the spirit of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada Calls to Action, particularly:
